About Local Vocals Choir Inc

”A community choir for everyone, no auditions. Weekly 4 part harmony group singing. Songleader Helen Diaz teaches world music, no music reading skills necessary. Sliding scale cost $60-80/term. Formerly known as the Wellsford Community Choir, the choir began in 2012 with funding from Auckland Council Creative Communities. The vision of the choir grew/emerged from the passionate belief of the founder, Sally Randall, that singing is immensely beneficial for health and wellbeing. Group singing provides an emotionally uplifting social experience, promotes effective breathing patterns and decreases stress levels. Following a successful 10 week workshop series and concert, in 2013 the choir became an incorporated society,The Local Vocals Choir Inc. We now sing weekly with professional song leader Helen Diaz. There are no auditions needed to join Local Vocal Choir Inc, we believe in singing for the joy of it. We aim to provide guest workshops and group singing opportunities. While practices are held in Wellsford, we have members from a wide geographical base stretching from Kaiwaka to Warkworth to Mangawhai and Maungaturoto All are welcome to join our choir! Read more
