This addiction led Switch Espresso founder Hamish Evans across the globe to explore some of the world’s most notable espresso hotspots, from Italy’s vibrant café culture to the fertile slopes of India’s coffee farms. Hamish returned to Christchurch in 2006 ready to combine his wealth of industry knowledge and his passion for great coffee. The result: a truly independent boutique roastery specialising in sustainable, organic and 100% ethically-sourced coffee. Switch Espresso has grown into one of the key players in the local Christchurch coffee industry. We supply outstanding cafés around Canterbury and the South Island, as well as delivering coffee direct to our consumers from the Switch Espresso website. From its beginnings in New Brighton, the roaster has relocated to Middleton, where coffee lovers can drop by and get the freshest brews at the roastery’s Industrie Espresso Bar. We love to push the boundaries of coffee extraction, bringing a range of specialty brew methods and light-roasted single-origins to highlight the diversity of espresso alternatives.
